TRIBAL TEAMS

EXISTING WORKS:

Making good progress in a tribal work which lacks sufficient personnel is very difficult or impossible. Due to furloughs, sickness, and other unavoidable circumstances, it is not uncommon for one or more missionaries assigned to a given work to be absent for extended periods. Thus the importance of having a full complement of 8 missionaries assigned to each tribal work. Most of our tribal stations are in need of additional personnel.

NOTE: We do not require singles to have partners in order to work in a tribe. Both single women and single men are welcome to join our tribal teams.

TRIBAL GROUP: PERSONNEL NEEDS:

FUTURE WORKS

We have identified several new works, which we plan to survey and (possibly) open when personnel are available. None of these have any churches or Gospel witness, and no other missions are planning to reach them*. Missionaries who can carry on all aspects of church planting are needed.

Those marked with an asterisk (*) have an SIL couple doing Bible translation, but are open to NTM doing the church-planting.

SUPPORT TEAMS

We currently have two support teams, one located in the capital city of Conakry, the other located upcountry at our Mission Center next to the Landuma village of Hamdallaye (Prefecture of Boké). You will notice that our needs for support personnel are extensive. Many of our support staff fill multiple roles, which makes their ministries very demanding and difficult. In addition, because of a shortage of support missionaries, several of our tribal personnel have taken on part time support ministries. These tasks must be done, but they take away from the tribal missionaries' ability to make good progress in their church planting ministries. Additional support personnel will play a direct role in enabling these tribal missionaries to pursue their church planting ministries to their fullest potential. Note that some of the following ministries would be part-time. For example, the same person could fill both the Promotions and Computer Technician ministries, skills/gifts permitting.

CONAKRY TEAM NEEDS:

Guest House Host/Hostess:

Our Conakry Guest House ministry is very important as the Guest House provides a place for missionaries and their guests to stay on their way into and out of the country. Missionaries also stay at the Guest House when they are in Conakry to buy supplies, get medical help, or just take a well-deserved rest. The current GH Host is only there on a temporary basis. A permanent replacement is needed.

Supply Buyer:

Many of the supplies needed by our missionaries at our Hamdallaye Mission Center and in the village stations can only be found in Conakry. A supply buyer is needed to receive orders, purchase supplies, and transport them to Hamdallaye.

HAMDALLAYE TEAM NEEDS:

Business Administrator:

Local government officials need to be kept current on the activities of the Mission. The Business Administrator maintains contact with them, as well as processing the paperwork necessary for our Guinean workers' contracts, and managing other government-related business. The current Administrator’s primary ministry is Church Planting in an African village. A permanent, full time Administrator is badly needed so that this missionary can give his full effort to his Church Planting work.

Builder:

Our construction team is busier than ever these days as our Mission Center expands due to the anticipated reopening of Hamdallaye Missionary School. Several new houses must be built, and renovations made to the school facilities. We could use two men to help in these projects. If you can lay block, do cement work, and/or build cabinets, window frames and trusses (or if you can learn any or all of the above!), your skills and muscles are needed here!

Supply Buyer:

Supply buying is a challenging task, and as our field grows the time and work required to keep our folks supplied continues to increase. Our supply buyer could use a coworker to help in purchasing supplies, stocking the mission store, and filling and delivering supply orders. Efficient supply buying and delivery is a key to the smooth functioning of the Field, allowing both tribal and support personnel to accomplish the most possible in their respective ministries.

School Teachers:

We are gearing up to reopen our school for missionary children for the fall 2006 semester. Most of our staff is now in place for the coming school year, but a few more are needed. We are still looking for junior and senior high English/Social Studies teachers, a Jr/Sr high science teacher, and art and music teachers for grades 1-12. If you have a heart to teach and mentor missionaries' kids, you may be just the person we are looking for to join us on the HMS staff.

Bording Home Parents:

Our MK school has been closed for several years due to lack of personnel. But it will be reopening, Lord willing, in 2006. At that time we will need a dedicated couple to serve as a Dorm Mom and Dad for the children of tribal missionaries who live too far away to commute to school.

Promotions:

Are you good with words? Do you have sharp editing skills? Do you have a knack for desktop publishing? These are some of the qualities we are looking for in someone who can handle promotions for the field. Field reporting for our website, developing promotional brochures, creating slide and video presentations to publicize the work - the possibilities are endless.

Computer Technician:

With the many computers humming all over the field we have a real need for someone who can be a resource person for problem solving when there are breakdowns, hardware and software installation problems, etc. For the next two years Benjamin Baum will be meeting that need for us, but when his term of service is over we'll need someone else to fill that vital role. If you have a strong computer background, your know-how would be much appreciated by our folks here, and would help speed the Word to the Guineans we are seeking to reach!

Mechanic:

Many of our folks have a hard time keeping their vehicles running on the bumpy, dusty, muddy (depending on the season) roads of Guinea. Quality spare parts are hard to come by, and good mechanics even harder! We have an auto shop at our Mission Center complete with many tools, welding machine, pit, etc. Your mechanical skills, applied to the missions task in Guinea, would be a great blessing to missionary and tribal person alike.
